The Arkansas Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee is hosting a webinar for librarians of all types in Arkansas to help us understand the current (and changing) legal landscape of our work. Law student Megan Halford will give a brief presentation on implementation of Act 372 and Act 917, two new laws affecting libraries and librarians in Arkansas. A moderated Q&A will follow the presentation.

Megan Prettyman Halford is a third year law student at the William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock, Arkansas. Before attending law school, she worked for six years as a high school social studies teacher in the Little Rock School District. While in law school, she has received multiple top paper awards, including in subjects such as contracts, property, and legal writing. She has published two notes: "A Democracy Denied: Act 236's Unconstitutional Restriction on Arkansas' Initiative and Referendum Rights" in the UA Little Rock Law Review and "State Takeover: How the LEARNS Act Limits Local School Board Policy Concerning Teacher Terminations and Renewals" in the Arkansas Journal of Social Change and Public Policy.
